Data Center Thermal Ride-Through Calculator

Estimate idealized room-air temperature rise during a cooling interruption from heat load, duration, and air volume.

Inputs

Planning inputs

Range: 0.1–100,000 kW

Enter heat released into room air in kW during the interruption. Include only heat that is actually transferred to the modeled air volume.

Range: 0.1–1,440 min

Enter cooling interruption duration in minutes. The model assumes constant heat load and no cooling during this period.

Range: 1–10,000,000 m³

Enter the room air volume in cubic meters. Exclude solid equipment volume only if your project method does so consistently.

Range: 0.5–2 kg/m³

Enter the air-density assumption in kg/m³ at the modeled condition; 1.2 is an example near standard indoor air.

Range: 500–1,500 J/kg·K

Enter air specific heat in J/kg·K. This simplified model does not vary properties with temperature or humidity.

Range: -40–80 °C

Enter initial room-air temperature in °C; the result also reports °F for U.S. facility use.

Result

Idealized final air temperature (°C)
22.50
Idealized final air temperature (°F)
72.50
