Antenna Boresight Ground Geometry

Estimate where a downward antenna boresight intersects a flat reference ground plane, plus its height at a selected site range.

Inputs

Antenna and target geometry

Range: 0.1–3,000 ft

Use the vertical separation from the antenna phase center to the flat ground reference plane, accounting for the target area's elevation when known. This is not necessarily tower height above the mounting-site grade.

Range: 0.1–89.9 degrees

Enter the total boresight angle from the antenna data or approved site configuration. Do not add mechanical and electrical tilt unless the source values are defined as additive. Zero tilt and uptilt are outside this finite-intercept model.

Range: 0–100 mi

Distance along the assumed vertical plane from the antenna to the point where you want the boresight height. One mile equals 5,280 feet.

Result
